Mothman Eyeshine

Mothman Eyeshine

In September of 2009, Kenny & Donna (Mrs. Biddle) headed out to Point Pleasant, WV for the Mothman Festival. We took some time to visit the area where the first Mothman sightings were reported, the famous "TNT area", the site of a former World War II munitions plant. We were joined by friends, Jason Gowin (Extreme Paranormal) and Tom Matt. There wasn't much to investigate in the TNT area.

We ventured overt the Mothman Museum, and inspected the available materials. The individual eyewitness reports contained several inconsistencies, making them unreliable.

In 2020, Benjamin Radford, author of Investigating Ghosts: The Scientific Search for Spirits, was in the area for filming for a TV show. He ventured into the TNT Area to test the accounts of "eye shine" some witnesses claim to be associated with Mothman. He constructed a test board consisting of; black foam board, four reflectors - two of which were modified to accept small LED lights. The idea was to document the difference between "eyes" that reflect lights...and "eyes" that emit light. A photo included in the slideshow below shows the difference - on the left is the reflector with a LED light behind it, while on the Right is reflected light (from a flashlight).
